Oldest Jeans Ever

Oldest Jeans Ever

With a fondness for antiques that goes way back, the British have a fetish for all things old, and it runs a lot deeper than we thought in this country that considers Queen Victoria’s old undies a national treasure.  Recently, a survey by the Lakeside Shopping Center in Essex, England showed us that two million Britons have held on to jeans for forty or more years, some longer.  Good thing that’s not the norm, or else the entire country would be saturated with patchwork bell-bottoms that reeked of patchouli. The average pair of jeans is six years old according to the survey.  Forty eight percent of those surveyed said that they keep their jeans because they will remain in style forever, and thirty six percent of men keep an old pair around for messy repairs and household jobs. Meanwhile, thirty percent of woman and twelve percent of men reportedly admitted holding onto “skinny” jeans in hopes of on day squeezing into them again. Twenty  percent kept theirs because they are the comfiest article of clothing they own, while just eight percent held on to their dusty denim for sentimental reasons. The survey also showed that the average Briton owns five pairs of jeans,  five percent boast a stash of more than 20 pairs and  twenty-two percent own six to ten pairs.
