Celebrate a Little Girl’s Important Day

The Christening ceremony is a truly important event in the life of a little girl; it’s the day on which she is baptised and given her Christian name, and the occasion cannot pass without the presentation of Christening gifts to make it memorable. There are many different gifts someone can give a little girl on such a special day, and the giver will want to make sure that the present they choose will be treasured and, of course, last a lifetime.

A lovely Christening present is a bible. These are available bound in a choice of colours,  so a pink one will be ideal, even more so if it is personalised on the front cover with the child’s name and date of birth, with a hand-written inscription from the giver on the inside front page.

Another idea is a silver money box. This, too, can be engraved and, with a few newly-minted coins placed inside, will make a great start in life to any little girl.

A unique Christening gift would be a hand-made quilt that has the child’s name and date of birth incorporated into the design, as would a hand-embroidered sampler carrying the same personal details, and placed in a silver frame.

Perhaps the most perfect gift for a little girl on her special day is jewellery and, here, there is so much to choose from that making the final decision could well prove difficult.  There are unusual items, such as a silver oyster with a little pearl embedded into velvet inside it, or, for something more traditional, a silver bangle which has been engraved with the child’s name and date of birth. A simple cross on a delicate chain will also make a very special gift, especially if presented in a special box with a little certificate marking the day.
