With a fondness for antiques that goes way back, the British have a fetish for all things old, and it runs a lot deeper than we thought in this country that considers Queen Victoria’s old undies a national treasure. Recently, a survey by the Lakeside Shopping Center in Essex, England showed us that two million Britons have held on to jeans for forty or more years, some longer. Good thing that’s not the norm, or else the entire country would be saturated with patchwork bell-bottoms that reeked of patchouli. The average pair of jeans is six years old...
